WELCOME
Meet Jessica

M.A.C.P, C.C.C

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) degree and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) credential from the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. During nearly a decade of experience in the mental health and substance use field, my focus has been on supporting young adults and adults in their pursuit of recovery and overall well-being. As I enter the realm of counselling services in 2022, I bring together my extensive experience and training to support individuals as they define and achieve meaningful changes in their lives.

ABOUT

ABOUT JESSICA AND HER APPROACH

My approach is rooted in warmth, compassion, curiosity, and emotional attunement. I aim to cultivate a therapeutic relationship that is safe and comfortable; where you feel heard and understood.

Depending on your needs and goals, I can use a directive or non-directive style during our sessions. A directive style means I take an active role and use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and/or Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to address concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, emotional dysregulation, trauma, and relationship difficulties. Together, we will identify and modify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, and develop new skills or mindsets to support your desired change.

For Trauma-Informed Practice, I employ the Experiential Unity model, which acknowledges how trauma and distress can become trapped in the body, manifesting as psychological turmoil and physical tension. This directive approach helps you resolve lasting effects without having to rehash the traumatic event.

On the other hand, a non-directive style is suitable for those seeking a space to freely express themselves honestly in a professional and confidential environment. Sessions follow a natural flow, encouraging self-discovery, self-awareness, and wisdom, with the added benefit of co-regulation.

If desired, we can also integrate elements from both directive and non-directive styles into our sessions.
